composer / Sound Designer 

John Shin is a sound designer and composer who uses synthesis and acoustics to shape sound in different listening environments. His sound design explores storytelling through texture, atmosphere and audio sculpting. As Oriental Rugs, he creates ambient soundscapes influenced by minimalism, krautrock, avant-garde and 80’s-90’s cinema scores. He received his MFA in Sonic Arts from CUNY Brooklyn College in 2023.
